1985 Crx HF problem

Hi guys this is my first post here. I will start off saying that I know little to nothing about cars. I have a buddy that knows a lot about them and he helps me out. I am having a problem that I really hard to describe. The only way I can describe it is when I get going to anywhere between 50-70 mph it feels like my crx hits a giant gust of wind and I lose all power and the car kind of studders. I have no idea what is wrong with it. It starts up good and its fine until usually 4th and 5th gear. My friend checked the vacuum lines. He said it could be a possible failing fuel pump. Do you guys have any ideas?
