the set up i currently have sub woofer wise is i have 2 P3 shallow 10in subs, for an amp i have a 1200 watt visonik, well pretty much ive heard great reviews and how good p3s are and what not, well to be honest right now mine are pretty crappy, i mean they have thump but nothing impressive at all, one of my friends who has recently just helped out a little with the rest of my audio build said its my amp, he said that visonik is a crappy amp and isnt puttin what it says and ur subs arnt gettin enough watts to be pushed properly, im still learing as i go some but i know how to hook everything up and how most things work but, any way my thought was 1200 watt amp to 2 600watt subs would divide evenly and with rms and all be a perfect amp, he said no cause visoniks are really overated and ur probably only gettin 200rms total, well pretty much what i really want to know is what amp would really get these things to pound, they have 300rms 600peak watts each so if i can get 300-350watts RMS to each would be cool but im having a hard time finding an amp thats 2 channel and has enough rms and for brands he said kenwoods nice and sonys ight for a decent price, so i figure i ask yall, what amp should i get? thanks guys. if its not the amp should i just go all out new subs and what not?

if you have the money buy fosgate amps there stuff is bomb but IMO shallo p3's blow i have not herd a decent pair they do hit alright but they sound like shit to me but if you are looking for amps go fosgate if not them then go kenwood i also like crunch amps thats my oppinion i have had all of them and the fosgate was the best and the crunch was the best for the money and kenwood was 50/50 a little pricy but sounds great

ight thanks, u think it would be better then instead of dumping $200+ into an amp to just get new subs, i was thinking of doing that instead anyway but cause everyone sayin ( minus u lol) sayin there the greatest thing in the world, but it was on P3s not P3 shallows so : \, what website would u recomand buying good amps and all at real cheap, i was able to get my sony xplode im using for my speakers for just $80 at walmart's site but they dont have a huge selection, and i can run a mono amp to 2 subs right? and whats the diff between class D and class AB

sorry, I had to edit for language ... this is a family oriented site
If you look around you will see there are lots of good internet brands out there that beat stuff like RF by a mile. The first thing you need to do is decide a budget, and it's best to save for something good the first time around if you can. Most of the brand name car stereo stuff is way overpriced for what you get, mostly because it's specifically marketed to the car stereo market. Also, the most important thing about getting good bass is the BOX.
The most efficient way to get power to a sub is to get a mono class D amp that makes a lot of power into 1 ohm - them get 2 subs that can be wired for a total load of 1 ohm. Class D is more efficient at lower loads than class AB and so you can run higher power without stressing your car's electrical system too badly.

ight, sorry if i used explicit language or somethin, any way yeah well i did save up a lot for those fosgates talked to people and all and i was a little leery about gettin them cause of there low wattage but every ones like u wont notice, well any way i have enough saved up now im thinking of gettin 2 10in alpine type R subs, if looked at reviews and every one has seemed to love them and out of the 30 so 4-5 of them siad they out perform any p3s they heard so : \, and if i get a mono amp for 2 subs can i run 2 positive (and neg) wires off the one postive ( one neg) on the amp and go indivdually or just run them in series? let me know what u think im not tryin to dump a bunch of money into overpriced name brand stuff again like u said lol, thanks guys

you will by the nature of it have to run the wires so all the pos are connected together and all the negs are connected together (in parallel). This effectively lowers the impedance load.
This is the the kind of amp I am talking about
http://www.soundsolutionsaudio.com/store/products/Sundown-Audio-SAZ%252d1000D.html
it works best at 1 ohm

ight man thanks, hopefully my friends coming over whos helping me build the box and were gonna hook it all up today, just a quick question, i was thinking of cutting out just a piece of wood to put my new Type R speakers into my door panels and what i wanted to know which would be better to bolt the wood to the actual plastic door panel or to the metal frame behind it and cut out some plastic if i need to?
this is basically what im kinda going ot try to make but just for one speaker for now

normally, I would mount the speaker to the metal frame in the door and make the plastic door skins fit. Mostly because you will not be able to see what's in the vehicle but also because it will be more sturdy. My CRX is a show car - it spends most of it's life n the garage but you really can't tell much of anything is in the Accord, and that's my daily driver.

yeah i ended up hookin the type Rs to the metal framing and trimming my door panels to fit them and it turned out better then i thought! would get a pic but cameras dead, and im currently debating between AudioQue's 10inch subs and the alpine type R subs, the AQs have better rms rating and are a bit cheaper, and my friend has an AQ 15in that is insane and he highly recommands, was seein what ur opinion on this was? and thats if i can fit the AQs but im pretty sure i can
PaulD

AQ is one of the internet companies making good stuff for less than the normal brand names. 1 12" sub may give you better low bass than 2 10's.

im think i will up grade to those later on when $$$ is a little more available lol, till then sticking with my subs now, what do yall think about the rockford fosgate T600-2 amp, its got 200-300RMS x2 which im thinkin will make my p3s pound, i can get a good deal on it is why im askin, this is it here

good deals always make it better. I have to admit I'm not much on newer RF stuff but it may be the best you can do for now.
Just noticed that the amp you put in the link is actually a little more expensive than the one I put in my link above.

Its your shallow subs, they arent meant to be impressive, they are meant to go into a tight space. In a sub, the bang is all in the weight of the magnets. since its shallow it has hardly any.
also might be the box that it is in. it could be to big, or to small compared to specs of sub. The setup i had was amazing for the price
I had 2 12" SSL Diablo subs(1200w max/600w rms- 47 each)I think like 160oz magnets cant remember
Amp was the rockford t300.2. its 150w rms per channel(200 from store-125 easy online) I had it bridged to both subs at 2ohm with 8gauge wire!! it cooked the wires and a ate a few fuses but i was on the budget end. 4 gauge recommended. I have heard about people testing their t300.2 at around 600w a channel so they are very underrated. was in a double sealed box in my 94 camaro(subs facing hatch glass). setup was thunderous...for less than 400$and if you dont have to get your box custom made even cheaper. the amp has thermal protection and all kinds of safety stuff. I had gain turned up, you could hear me blocks away with windows down.

yeah some one else said fosgate amps are underated, and i can tell my subs are underpowered so im hoping with this new amp and i have a professional ( well some one that really knows what there doing) building me a good box with the sizes correct and everything, right now there just in random unknow size sealed boxes with leaks lol and there underpowered and they still hit ok so im hoping to see a huge diff with this amp and new box

Yea, My box cost me 140 from an audio store. i wish i woulda tackled the project myself but its all good. next time im makin my own. I own a 2 seater 300zx and i think 2 12" in a bandpass box hitting glass would easily set off car alarms, but im having a hard time finding a job right now so gotta keep what money i have for emergency.haha
whats your new amp?

the box makes or breaks the performance of a sub

thanks, i already got my system finished though lol, and paul is 100% right, a good box is the key, had a friend that talked me out of buyin new subs, he was just like no no let me build u this box, holy crap, like they barly barly rattled my review mirrorr, they now shake it so much its useless, my side view mirrors shake and my rear window flexs a litte, and i got a noise complant that a house 5 houses away said there windows were buzzing lol, i also now have a T600 watt 2 channel fosgate amp to that helped a little with power of hit and quality but the box was it
