95 Camry 2.2 #1 Speed Sensor

I'm getting a trouble code 42 along with the speedometer gauge not working and it points to #1 speed sensor. I want to test the voltage to terminals 1&3, which should change from 0 to11 volts. The problem is that I can't remove the speed sensor to test it. I removed the connector along with the the (1) bolt but the sensor does not move and I can't see any joint to pry between. Is there a second bolt that I am missing or is there a method to break it free? I'm trying to access it from under the distributor and there is not much room.

There are three bolts that hold the sensor in place in a triangular pattern around the connector.

As an alternative, or before you kill your knuckles, go to the sticky at the top of the forum and d/l the portion for the 5S-FE engine (EG1) and for Body Electrical (BE). There is an inspection procedure in the engine section for testing the sensor without removing it, starting on page EG1-382. If that fails, then you can remove it and check it per the instructions on page BE-67. Hope this helps!

The information was very helpful and specific to check the #1 sensor. I hand to have someone else remove the sensor as I could not pry it off myself.

Thank you for taking the time and pointing out the info in the manual. I have to say that the downloaded manual is more specific that the Haynes Repair Manual that I have been using.

The sensor solved the problem. A little pricy at $220, but the 95 Camry with 208K is back on the road.
