03 GA water temperature

I just picked up an 03 GA with a 3.4 v6, the engine is not overheating but the normal water temp is 200. Is this the norm? I had a 95 camaro with a 3.4 and it never ran this hot.

Yes. I've had mine for 3 1/2 years and it has always run in the 195-205 range. With the 2 cooling fans, one is supposed to come on when you run the A/C and the other when engine temp goes to 220.

yeah they tend to run a little hot. you can swap out the thermostat for a 180 deg(instead of the 195deg) and it should run below 200 all the time.

If it still runs hot most of the time(while sitting idling) you could need your cooling system flushed, or your LI gaskets could be leaking.

Thanks for everyones input. Now that I now, just under 200 is the norm, I see that it is not a problem. But when I have a few extra bucks, flushing the radiator would be a good idea.:cool:

Not inside but on the fins. I forgot to add that little tidbit. Like central air condenser units. Like when the cotton wood seed would be sucked in to the fins. Isn't there a picture showing a radiator that is externally clogged with dust in the radiator fins.

check that you are not missing that plastic thing that goees under the radiator (can't remember what the name is for that) anyway, incomming air bounces of that thing and is directed to cool radiator from the bottom. Also loose coolant reservoir cap will make engine run hotter than usual (less pressure in the cooling system=faster boiling point) more pressure (boiling point is increased). You can clean fins with high pressure water gun, but be careful do it from inside out and at the certain engle or you will damage all the fins (bend them).
