Drive Shaft Lube Fitting

I recently found a grease fitting on the forward part of the driveshaft.
This is an extended cab and it appears that it is a two piece driveshaft.
This fitting has probably been overlooked since it rolled off the lot 7 yrs. ago.
Oh, sorry, it's a 2002 S-10 extended cab.
My questions are:
Does this take regular grease like the front end steering parts?
How much grease do you put in it and how do you know when you've hit that limit?

Sounds like you are describing the slip joint on the shaft. Regular chassis grease will be fine and lubing it untill you feel some resistance would be the normal amount. There should be a weep hole on one end that would allow excess to be relieved if necessary.

Thanks for the information, it went just like you said it would.
I pumped grease into it until some started coming out the weep hole (5-6 strokes).
I wiped away the excess and it's a wrap.
Thanks Again.
