i was driving my truck to my gf's house and i noticed the entire way i had almost no power. then when i got there it was idling rough. i revved the motor and no difference. i shut it off. waited for a min and started back up and still no difference. revved it again and then the motor smoothed out and the ses light came on. i know it deals with the egr but i'm thinking it has to do with one of the sensors feeding it. i've cleaned it before and i know what it felt like before when it had gotten carbon in it. does anyone know what sensors it uses? its the 95 cpi with the obd2 computer with the electronic egr.

What is the code no.?
How is the tune up and fuel pressure?
Plull egr valve and check for carbon under punger.
As far as sensors the have a lot of them.
Proper testing will show if any are bad.
Start with the code it has.

the code is a p1406. tune up has been with in a year. fuel pressure i've never checked. but it runs good when you floor it. replaced fuel filter 1 week ago. what sensors help control it so i'll know which ones 2 check.

Sensor will not help unless yoou have a bad one.
The code is for EGR valve pintel position does not match actual desired position.
May have got a carbon ball under plunger.
Is it running good and idleing good now.
Have you cleared code and see if it returns.
Also run a fuel pressure test and post back readings.

Vin w 4.3 look for 55/61 fuel pressure readings and make sure to test it on the road hot after 20-30 minute drive.
Give us the fuel pressure readings.
Cold eng cranking and run ing and hot running and on the road readings.
And pinch off or block a return line and post back all readings.

would it give a false code if fuel pressure was low?

No the code is for a egr valve position sensor not matching actual and desired position.
But for it to run right you need proper fuel pressure.
We need more info to help you.
Did the code clear and stay cleared?
