Hello Again Gentlemen!
I come over to the GA forum to seek more insight with my 3100 GP.
2002 Pontiac Grand Prix SE 3100 V6.
WOT I get about 8 degrees of KR, 45mph cruising in OD I get upwards of 19-20 degrees. No Lies.
It seems very excessive since I have 2 degrees at max on my GTP.
The SE is pretty much stock aside from a 180 degree thermostat and a performance shift knob.
I do have a powertuner so I have the fans tuned to the 180 stat.
I could buy a set of 3800NA fuel injectors for 20.00 for all 6. I was wondering what you guys thought. First off, would those even fit? Second, if I tuned the PCM for the proper size of the injector, do you think that might clear up the KR?
Any other ideas? The car was tuned up about a year ago with a set of 41-101 plugs, delco wires, WIX air filter, and WIX fuel filter. I just put LIM gaskets in it about a month ago. 90,000 miles. LTFT Numbers look just fine.
I'm stumped why a car would have so much KR from the factory.

how many degrees at idle in park? It should be 18-20

Not talking about ignition timing advance, I mean Knock Retard. It has 0 degrees KR at idle in park. But thanks for the ignition timing spec, I will keep an eye on it when I scan it again.

Tim, can you actually hear any knocking when it's running? If not, you may have a faulty knock sensor. That's a lot of KR, especially if you're not hearing any piston slap/lifter ticks, etc...

Yeah Rich, now that you say it, I can hear quite a lot of knocking/ticking on initial startup. It has been like that since the day it came home. Natalie keeps telling me it sounds like a lifter, but I dont say anything. To me it sounds deeper like piston slap. It always goes completly away after the car warms up for about 5 minutes.

Friend just did a top swap on his 3800. I dont know if I am going to get them or not. I think they are up there in milage.
