2001 Grand Am...WHERE are the turn signal flashers??

I need to replace my flasher fig a ma jig to get my flashers in sync for my turn signals. I currently have my left blinker flashing extremely fast, which normally denotes a bad bulb, but in this case the bulbs are good and are flashing. I'm thinking my flasher unit needs replacing. The right signal works fine and at normal speed.
Anybody know where the flasher units are on this vehicle. It's a 2001 Pontiac Grand Am??????

it does not always mean that the bulb is burned out, it could mean that the lead part on the bulb is woren out and bulb will still work but will flash faster, so check that first. Flasher should be behind the swithc for hazard lights on your model.

By LED (light emitting diode), I don't think these are LED bulbs, these bulbs are the old style with filaments. The filaments on my left side bulbs are intact and flashing. When I turn my turn signal on, it's just the left side that blinks really fast. This is not my emergency flashing unit, this is when I turn my left turn signal on. Sorry, I gave a confusing statement. I need to know where the flasher unit is for my turn signals. Is the flasher unit for my turn signals up there behind the emergency flasher button on the dash??

sorry, lead not led. Lead contact on the bottom of the bulb wears out, so check on front and back for the side that is flashing faster.

I think i know what you're talking about but these bulbs are different. They don't have the std lead 2 nipple bottoms, they have a plastic male bottom that inserts into a female pin type of fitting in the plastic housing. I replaced my left rear bulb and it blinks the same. Do you know where the flasher unit is for the turn signals?? I think the flasher unit may cure the problem.
Thanks for your help

try switching bulbs on the front see if the problem moves on the other side,
flasher is behind the hazard switch button
flasher is behind the hazard switch button

That's a good idea. I'll try that first.
Thanks again

Welcome to AF bearclaw46 !!
If the lefts blinking fast, you have a bulb out on that side or a short in one of the sockets.
If the relay(blinker) was bad it would blink fast on both sides. Another trick is turning on your hazzard light and checking the bulbs/sockets.
Also I just remembered, if your multi function switch is dirty on the contacts inside, it can cause simular issues. Should be a thread or two reffering to the dismantal of the switch to clean and regrease with dielectric grease.

Xeroinfinity, Thanks for the welcome.
Both the front & the rear bulbs DO blink on the left side but really fast. I thought I had a bad bulb too but they both work, I've checked it numerous times. It's not an unsafe condition in that it just blinks really fast but it's annoying and I'm just wondering WHY would it do that. The right side blinks normal. I don't get it. I was thinking the flasher unit was bad but maybe not.

Have you tried just turning on the flashers(hazzards) ?
If it doesn't do it, then we know it's something else, like the MFS.
Does or has it ever made a clicking sound when you're not using the turn signal or hazzards ?
And yeah I totaly understand about the fast blinker being annouying. lol
