08 camry

i have a 08 camry le v6. i had the check engine light, vsc and the trac light all go off on the dash. i took it to my mechanic and the checked the code and showed p0057 and p0061. faulty bank two o2 sensor. So i had them replace it with an oem part. i picked up my car today and about 10 miles into my drive the lights came back on. so i drove back immediately and they hooked it up to the computer and the same exact codes showed up. the mechanic stated it could be defective oem sensor they got from the dealer. they reset it and once again within 1 mile the lights went off.

does anyone have any idea what the problem could be? this is basically a new car with 50k miles. has anyone else have this problem. any help will be appreciated.

I take it you are saying those lights came on when they weren't supposed to.
At my driving school we had a car that had the check engine light on all the time, yet nothing was wrong with the engine. Sometimes it is a bad sensor.

My dad also had to get the sensor replaced in his vehicle.

Not at all familiar with the 08s and have no schematics but if it's like most systems there's the O2 sensors, connections, wiring, and the controlling ECU. Not much to the system. Luckily you won't be spending a penny except to get the car to the dealer and back. If it ever comes to it, many states have a lemon law meaning if a dealership makes a repair a number of times for the same problem in a given period of time and it's still not fixed, you may be able to get the car replaced. Check Idaho's laws.

A faulty brake light switch will also cause vsc and trac light come on. Check and see if brake lights are working properly.

The car should still be under warranty, especially if it is powertrain or emissions related. I suggest having your local dealer run a free diagnostic.
