2001 Camry V6 automatic to manual transmission?

I was wondering if anyone knows whether or not you could swap out an automatic transmission for a manual in a V6 Camry. I didn't even know there was manual transmissions on Camrys but I have seen some. I would love to have that instead but being that they didn't have any on the V6s I wanted to see if it would even be compatible.

Thanks

Anything is possible if you are willing to spend enough time and money; but it's not very practical. A lot of this depends on whether or not you can do the actual work yourself. IMHO, your best alternative is to find a V6 Camry of similar vintage and buy that one and sell your car. I believe they do exist.

The CE and LE trim levels were available with the 3.0-L V6 and the 5-speed transmission. Manual transmissions (model: S51 (http://www.automotiveforums.com/wiki/Toyota_S_transmission#S51)) were only available on the CE trim level, LE V6, and any Solara model. But you're better off getting a tranny from a V6 since the two engines have different wiring schematics. So you'd have to find and buy the transmission, wiring harnesses, and ECM from a 2000 or 2001 donor car. Better would be to buy the engine/tranny combo.

One devilish note...TRD offered a supercharger kit for that V6...to give you a little 247-hp kick-in-the-ass.

I can't tell you how to do it, but it looks like it can be done if you have the time and patience. Good luck!
