Front end vibration

1998 Lumina with 120000 miles, front end vibration increases with speed, also noise that goes with virbration. Vibration & noise stops doring turns left and right. Both front wheel hubs were replaced at 104000 miles, new tires at 115000. I belive the wheel hubs need replacing again, any ideas?

See if there is any looseness in the hubs to start with, no?

Hubs usually moan at a fairly constant tone that gets louder with speed and changes when steering, but if you feel anything it's just kind of a hum in the steering column or floor of the car, not what I'd call a vibration, per se.

Start simple, rotate the tires and see if it changes, feathered tires, even when it's not bad enough to be easily seen, can produce some very ominous noises in FWD cars...I've had cars in the shop you'd swear the front brakes were grinding or the hubs were bad, and it was just the tires.

I replaced a hub on my '97 and it went bad again within a year and less than 5000 miles, defective part it seems. It was a house branded hub from Carquest.

But I recognized the moaning sound coming from it right away when it began again.

Check the axle nut for correct torque. If they are too tight it will sound just like the bearing is going bad.

Replaced both front bearing hubs today, now feels as smooth as silk, noise is gone also. Left hub was shot, right wasn't far behind.
