2006 F350 steering problems

Have a 2006 F350 Crew Diesel. The control arm with the 2 u-joints that comes through the fire wall is seizing up and causing steering to act erratic. Have 3 friends with the same 2005-2007 model years that are having the same problem. Is this common?
