My dad just got a Buick Century with a blown motor, but we had a spare motor from one that we got into a crash with. Problem is, the guy who owned the car before us had taken out a bunch of wires and then didn't label them, so we're just lost. My dad figured out a few by "guess and check", but now there's a bunch of lights on that shouldn't be.

He wants to know the following: What color plug plugs into the cam shaft plug? Also, where is the anti-lock brake motor? He can't find it and thinks he has the two wires mixed up.

for the ABS just fallow the brake lines. it is usually next to the master or the front engine compartment. ( but it does not have to have ABS some times in older cars you will see where they tossed it). Next things that those plugs are black on the outside, and keyed on the inside. I do forget the color of the inside but they are keyed different.

In any event if some how some way they are plugged in wrong, and the car pops and sparks like a top fuel dragster…. Just unplug the fuel injector plug/plugs. And monitor the cam sensor. If you are getting ½ the pulses than engine RPM…. You have that one correct. On the Crank there are two different types. One will give you the same pulses as RPM and the other gives you six.

If you don’t have a scanner or an O’scope……… get a graphing scanner……. It makes life so much easier and is cheaper than the tried and true….. Just toss parts at the problem till it works.

Not only that but I bet that you play with it for at least a week with a smile on your face. A scanner is almost as much fun as NOS and about ½ the price.

Mmk, he now wants to know where all of those different wires go.

Is it possible to get a diagram of some sort to show him? It's hard to relay to everyone what exactly he's looking for, and he doesn't do computers...

Nevermind, he figured it out. It ended up being something small he just didn't notice.

Thanks anyways!!
