Brake electrical problem....

Alright we'll try to make this simplified. I have a 1988 C2500 5.7L 2x4 extended cab truck. First I noticed my brake lights would be on when I wasn't even in the truck, no keys in the ignition or anything. So I would move the slide on the trailer brake and the lights would go off. Then one day I went to start my truck and the battery was completely dead. I charged the battery back up and I thought maybe there was a short in the trailer brake so I disconnected it. Still no luck. Then I thought the stop switch on the brake pedal was bad so I changed that. Still no luck either the brake lights would be on all the time or off all the time when I tried to adjust it. So I just left them off all the time. About a week later I went to move my truck and the battery was dead again. I've heard it might have something to do with the multi-function switch ( my turn signals don't work either I have to keep flicking the switch for them to work) or a short in the electrical SOMEWHERE? Any help would be grateful. Thanks!

The switch needs to be fixed so you have brake and turn lights.
Without them you could get run over.:sarcasm1:
Unplug the turn signal /switch and see if brake lights stay on.
And watch and check the battery amp draw.

Is the multi-function switch the same as the turn signal/ switch?

If turn and wipers and other stuff is on same lever yes it is.
