ATF Fluid?

I changed my trans fluid around a year ago or about 16-17k miles. I did a trans pan drop and changed out about 7qt. I used Valvoline Max Life dexron III fluid (red bottle). I think it was high mileage trans fluid. Seems to work good. Trans still shifts smoothly and works fine. At the time it cost about $3.50+ a qt. But I was at walmart the other day and saw some super tech trans fluid for $9.77 a gallon. It was compatable with mecron and dexron III vehicles. I know that now dexron IV (hope thats right) is the reccomended trans fluid for GM cars.
My ? is supertech trans fluid good and since dexron III fluids has been pretty much phased out would the super tech trans fluid still be of good quality since it doesn't technically have to meet GM specs. Or even though I did a pan drop can I extend the trans service to 30k miles. The fluid is a light brown color and was when I changed it out. I assume that this is due to the fact of mixing old fluid with new. If there is no need to change out the trans fluid I won't do it. I'm trying to keep overall cost of maintance down but want to make the trans last as long as possible. Can't afford for it to go bad. But I would aslo like some thoughts on supertech trans fluid because it seems pretty cheap to me.

You mean Dexron VI? I've used the Wally World brand Supertech Dex VI and no issues. It meets GM specs.

The walmart in my area doesn't seem to carry Dexron VI trans fluid period. All they have is the mecron, ATF4, and dexron III compatible fluid. I haven't checked Autozone or Advance yet though.
