Decal trimming question

When you are appying decals that will not be cleared overhow close do you trim to the color and do you top coat them with anything?

I try to trim the decal as close as possible to the color without getting the color. However, if the decal is thin and easily ripped I would leave more of the film with it for strength.

As far as coating, I sometimes clear my decals on the model sometimes not. Besides the debate on what is accurate, some decals just look a bit thick if you don't clear them on the body.

I've always left the extra edge on it, but I usually clearcoat or apply a coat of Future.

Trimming close to the color makes the decal harder to see, as in it doesn't stand out. I always cut as close as possible, unless they are very small decals.

Nah, so far the worst thing I have done is got speeding tickets! :biggrin: I do have to drive by the prison from time to time and it seems that it has mostly women right now. I don't know if they need visits or not as I would be a little afraid to ask. lol.
