95 altenator problem

Seems likr this is becomming a never ending repair saga with this car..
Voltage reading 12.2V

What checks can I make to determine if this is an alt problem?

Is it a big project to remove the alt?

I was reading some posts about some thermister attached to the Pos batt terminal to regulate batt charging.
Can this shut down the altenator and make it seem like a bad alternator?
If so, how can the thermister be checked out???

Alt. is hard to do: need to remove radiator and cooling fans to gain access. 12.2 volts usually means your running off the battery but try to find a place to check the whole charging system (for free if you can!)
Most Auroras seem to have probs with aftermarket alts so try to get a Delco reman for maybe Rockauto .com

I agree, sounds like the alternator. My car gave me a charge system warning when mine went out.

Also, changing it out is not easy like pizza442 said. You really do have to remove the entire radiator and fan assembly before you can so much as reach the alternator and even then, none of the fastners are easy to get to at all.

Lots of cuts and scraps on this job but I did manage to get it done in several hours knowing very little about changing an alternator on that car.
