van problems

2003 town and country is having problems. when i drive the panel lights will start flashing and the guages will start going up and down on rpm's and speed. I keep on driving and it quits after awhile. took it to mechanic ran all the diagnostic tests and nothing came up wrong. right after that drove van home parked before i could turn key off engine stalled and the rpm guage went all the way up. any suggestions thanks alot.

There are a few common fixes for your problem. On the top of the list would be corrosion on the printed circuit board in the Integrated or Intelligent Power Module or IPM. That's the fuse/relay box under the hood. If it's there cleaning usually doesn't help. Just replace the IPM. Another is a weak batteryor poor connections. The electronics on the van are sensative to low voltage. Clean the battery posts and have the battery load tested. Third is bad solder joints on the instrument cluster circuit board. Less common on your 4th generation van but it still happens. One indication of it is things go crazy or correct themselves when you smack the dash above the cluster.
