i just found out there is a procedure you can do to dis-able the autolock feature. does anyone out here know it? there is a possibility the manual shows it, but i don't have one to look in. if someone could post it, i would be eternally grateful (i HATE that d%&n feature!)

Hopefully you have the keyless entry keypad on the driver's door. From the factory service manual:

To activate the autolock feature, use the following steps:

1. Enter the five-digit permanent entry code into keyless entry keypad (14A626).

2. Press and hold the 7/8 button on the keyless entry keypad within five seconds of entering the code.

3. Press and then release the 3/4 button within five seconds of pressing and holding the 7/8 button.

4. Release the 7/8 button on keyless entry keypad within five seconds of releasing the 3/4 button.

To deactivate the autolock, repeat the above sequence.

Oh great Rod!?! :headshake Now everyone in the WORLD knows how to do that to all of us that have that feature on our car!?! :nono: I hope you didn't forget to tell us that that procedure will also unlock a locked car!?! Hmm,....does that code work on all of Ford's vehicles with the keypad? :iceslolan

Are you referring to the line, " 1. Enter the five-digit permanent entry code into keyless entry keypad (14A626)." You need to have the permanent code specific to your vehicle. "14A626" is the reference in the factory service manual for the keyless entry keypad, but is NOT a keypad code (Never seen an 'A' on a Ford keypad). I'm not sure what Ford can use those reference numbers for, I suppose to look up items for part numbers or location references in their full system.

Woooops! :icon16: Boy that was real slippery. Looks like I made my own mess to step in!?! BUT, my out is my obvious kidding around and goofiness!?! I was REALLY tired when I read that and mistakenly thought for whatever ridiculous reason that the (14A626) was a master Ford code to enter into the KEM system, not Ford's ref no. for the keypad. To give you an idea how slow I was on that, I didn't even catch the 'A' in the number when I have the KE on my Taurus. :shakehead Boy was I off, but I was also not wholly convinced that Ford really did that and certainly didn't think they would also allow entry with that kind of "universal" code. It all became much clearer when I examined this subject in the SM. Good thing I wasn't doing anything really important like signing my will or a deed!?!
