Tranny noise

I have a 98 lesabre limited. When i start up the car [cold engine] I hear a tinny sounding noise coming from near the trans in the engine compartment. after about 5 to 10 minutes running the sound goes away. I've had the car for 4 years and it hasn't changed at all. Nice web site.

Someone has to get under there and listen/find it, right , no other way, could be a heat shield, the cat internally.

if i'm correct in understanding it's made that noise for 4 years(?) it's probably as mentioned earlier.. exhaust heat shield or something related to the exhaust anyway.. since it disappears relatively quickly. you might be able to touch, shake, or wiggle things when it's cold to find it.

my 97 makes a noise on cold starts for about 5 mins. i was told it was the idle control valve. i took off the air intake hose and sure enough the noise was coming from there, is real loud with the hose off. try that?
