temperture gauge does not work , and hesitates on acceleration

still having problem with bucking, and hesitation on acceleration, now temp gauge does not work, could this be a sensor?

i have an s10 with the same problem i am going to try replacing the temp sensor i read on another thread that that could be the problem i will let u know what happens when i do

Replace coolant temp sensor. If it goes bad it will make your vehicle do all sorts of crazy things.

I had this problem on my van. The temperature gauge was not working and the motor was running rough. The temperature sensor is the culprit. When the sensor goes bad it reads that the engine is at -60degrees which makes the powertrain control module richen your fuel mixture and it runs like crap because it thinks it is cold outside. Basically, like trying to run your lawn tractor with the choke on and it is already warm. Doesn't run very well. The sensor is located on the thermostat housing on the right side of the engine. Use a socket and long extension to reach it. Its not too bad of a job. This should straighten everything out. Good Luck.
