So i had my corolla for a while and no problems with the brakes at all....
but recently the rear brakes have been screeching......and the noise is heard though the car so whenever ihave to stop....the screech occurs.....
however it doesnt screech when i brake a little to slow down...it happens near when my car is about to come to a complete stop.....
ive also checked the brake pads and they are still fine...
anyone have any ideas?
anything will help,
thanks, brian

Typically a good cleaning of brake dust build-up and light buffing of the brake surfaces is all that is needed. Spray with brake cleaner and have a drip pan under to catch it...spread newspapers as well to protect the floor from splatter. Reapply grease to sliding points and to the adjustment wheel.
Buffing takes the gloss off the shoes and drums. I like to use a 3M rust and paint removal wheel and buff in a cross-hatch pattern. They will be grabbier(?) after this so just beware. Hope this helps!
