97 explorer abs no communication

abs light is on there is 7 codes i can only read the codes but when i go to clear them or try to get data display it aborts and say no communication
i have already tried replacing the control module and doesnt take care of the problem can any one help

What make and model of scan tool are you using?

Hmmm, my familiarity is with the OTC Genisys. I've not run in to the problem you describe. Do you have the option when drilling down the menus to select different ABS systems or protocols? If so, have you tried a different protocol? Are you sure you have all the selections correct? You might try selecting a '96 and a '98 as the model year to see if you have any better luck.

also tried using genisis and it says there is no codes present and it wont clear or get data display eather

What are the 7 codes the Snap-On lists? Any that might indicate a power issue?
