^what he said^

are you talking about trading a 94 base for a vr4?

I believe he is asking about a possible trader or trade and cash for his base for a VR4. Unfortunately none of us can help you out unless you first, write in a more coherent manner, and secondly, give us far far more details about each car and the situation you are in.

yea we definitley need a lot more. btw sl300gt, how are those iridiums working for you? any problems?

They have worked perfect since I installed them. I've never had any trouble with spark blow-out as they have run very smoothe under all conditions.

sorry i was on my playstation when i wrote that. here's the stats of his '91 vr-4:

Lower mileage engine (70kish on it now)(professionally installed)
Tranny was gone through 10k miles ago and had a 300m 25 spline outputshaft put in (1200 in PARTS alone and was worked on by Ries Transmissions in St. Paul Park)
HKS Exhaust
HKS Turbo Timer
Joe P MBC (has been set at 10 since install for my wallets sake)
SS downpipe (was on car when I bought it, front pre-cat delete)
Rear precat gutted
Radiator
O2 sensor
Rear aws lines replaced
K&N intake
Polished Plenum
Polished Y-pipe (3-2 3/4 coupler)
255 lph Wahlbro fuel pump
8an braided ss fuel line (sitting in trunk)
60k maint done when the engine was put in
3SX lightweight stock size crank pulley
Datalogger
Tinted taillights, 3rd brake light, and front turns
White headlights (can't remember brand at the moment)
Battery
Oil pressure sensor
'99 3mm Lifters
Iridium spark plugs (NGK)
10.2mm wires
New front axles
clutch slave cylinder
afr gauge, boost gauge, gauge pod
Superchips ECU (has timing control, although I left everything alone)(also replaced 2 of the capacitors as a precaution; I didn't want it to happen again...)
Have a replacement set of fog lights since one of the lenses is cracked
Replaced the seats with better shape used ones
Active Aero works as does ECS

yes this is a trade plus cash, not sure how much. mine is a '94 base 171,000 on motor and less than 10 k on clutch. chassis is pretty good. motor for the sunroof is shot.

yeah he's a guy in my area. i know he wants around $6000 i think? anyways is it a lot cheaper to maintain a base over the vr-4? that's probably why he wants to trade. either that or something is wrong. do any of you guys know roughly what the difference would be to maintain a vr-4 over the base per month?

VR4 is more expensive all together. It must have premium fuel, has more parts that need serviced, has a more expensive drivetrain, etc. If the VR4 is in good shape and remains reliable it shouldn't be all that much. However, if things need fixed or things start to break you will need to have some money set aside for that as it is not cheap. For me, I do not cut corners. I use Royal Purple oil that is spendy to say the least, drive to Iowa to make sure my VR4 gets 93 octane instead of 91, etc. Then agian, I am somewhat nuts.

well if he wants 6k then its not that great of a deal. i'd keep yours if it were me

I disagree. $6000 for that VR4 is a good deal as long as the car looks the part as well.

but 2nd gens are the best. . . i dunno. it sounds like a good deal financially and whatnot. but pop-up lights are lame :icon16:

Hey screw you buddy! pop-up light are the shit! In the words of the great Jeremy Clarkson;
"And [the Porsche 944] had pop-up headlamps, which no car has anymore these days. There are lots of things from the past that we dont want back....But pop-up headlamps they're just so COOOOL!"
