Re-promoting Adhesion On Double Sided Tape & Painted Metal

I just got the GTC back from the body shop about two weeks ago. There is a long molding that runs along the door. It's starting to pull off on the ends on both sides. Now, the moldings can't be removed as that would ruin them, they are made of polyurethane. They are held on with double sided tape and I was wondering if there was anything safe for painted surfaces that I could apply that would get the tape to adhere.

In the past, I have used this silicone-type adhesive (in a tube) that is intended to secure automotive trim moldings to painted surfaces. I think Loctite make it.

Did you just apply it to the tape and then stick it back down, or did you remove the tape?

I think either way would stick just fine.

But I think just adding the adhesive would increase the thickness of the moldings, just in that area, and make a bit of a wave, or bump.

Removing some tape would be ideal, so long as you do not damage the existing bond or the trim.
