It died over the stupid dome lights.
Short story: Left for some Mcdonalds breakfast in the morning, got home, and at night was told the dome lights were still on.
Ok, needed a jump this morning.
But here's the thing, I have to stand around for THIRTY seconds to even see if the lights are going to shut off, despite slamming the door shut hard.
Is there a way to disable the theater light delay thing? I want the lights to shut off immediately when the door is closed, not after 30 seconds. It doesn't even fade out, just instantly shuts off after 30 seconds. Don't know if it's supposed to fade or not.

You can probably just remove the bulb..

Well I want the light to work when the door is open, but I wan't it to immediately shut off when I close the door, not 30 seconds later.

there is a timer that does all this...the delay is 20-30sec...not worth the time to re-wire the control system...
before you leave the vehicle make sure these lights go out..the dome and door lights all work like this together...

If your Caprice's fuse box is similar to my '85 fuse box there may be a fuse with the label "courtesy lights" (or similar) if you pull this fuse out you should be good to go but of course you will need to plug it back in when you need to drive again. On my Caprice I wired a simple circuit with a switch so that I could simply toggle it back on when entering the car.
