Hey y'all, I'm about to buy an 89 S-10 with a 2.8 V6 with 60,000 miles on it. The guy I'm gonna buy it from said the garage he took it to said it has a bad Crank position sensor in it and that's why it shuts off, but both Autozone and Advance Auto Parts say the truck doesn't have a CPS, does it or doesn't it? If not what else could be the problem?

Welcome to AF.
Older ones do not have crankshaft sensors.
First thing to check when it quits or shuts off is foe lose of fuel pressure or spark.
A lot of them have ign module/pickup coils and ign coils that fail.
Also computers that have a bad circuit board.
If no lose of fuel pressure and or lose of spark give the old pc a tap/twist test.

I had a '92 Lumina with a 3.1 V6 that would shut off after 20 minutes of running. Turned out to be a back lockup solenoid in the tranny - wouldn't cause a problem until the engine and tranny were good and warm.
Replaced that (and did a fluid/filter change at the same time) and all was good until I sold it 82,000 miles later.

Thanks for the info on the lumnia but lets not mix Lumnia and 89 s-10 2.8 v6 problems.
It gets to many confusing different problems.

Thanks for the welcome! I talked to the current owner today, and had him do the "paper clip trick" on the OBD plug under the dash that makes the CEL flash with the problem, he said it showed "12" which means all systems are fine. He let it run for 25 minutes and took it for a drive around his yard (it's not registered or plated) and said it ran good, so maybe it's fixed, maybe not, but he'd keep checking it and let me know. If I get more info I'll post it here.
