1991 regal

i am converting my a/c to 134 i took the ac line off becaused it was broke--i replaced it the next day but there was on freon in the system-a guy at az told me i have to replace the drier---is that tru--i bought thi car in 2006 it's been over 6 years when my sister parked it 1991 regal gs 3800 en also i'm getting this code 13--do i need to replace a sensor?

code 13 indicates low output voltage from the oxygen sensor. This could be due to a frayed, corroded wire or a bad sensor.

On the a/c question, there is no way there was still R-12 in the system if the line was broke before you attempted to remove it. Since R-12 is a gas, it all would have escaped from the break.

I would strongly suggest changing the accumulator/drier since you're converting from R-12 to R-134a as the broken line most likely allowed moisture in the system.

For your info only, I recharged the system from freon to 134a 5 years ago and replaced nothing and it has run perfectly since other than top-ups.

Did you know also that the patent for freon from Dupont ran out and they didn't want anyone else using it so they created all the hysteria about the ozone layer depleting lol. We're such dupes.
