SA22C Rx-7 Bumpers

It's a long shot I know, but I'm looking for the front and rear bumpers from Tamiya's kit of the Series II Rx-7 SA22C. The kit was released as 2416, then renumbered 24016 at a later date.....

I want to turn one of the wide-fendered Fujimi kits into this:

I have the decals, and the kit, I just need the updated bumpers..... If someone has an original kit, or a junker they'd sell me, or would be prepared to take an impression of the bumpers in a suitable material I'd love to hear from them...

Otherwise I'll be trying to sculpt them in putty / filler

Thanks in advance...

David

You're best bet unfortunately is ebay. The late model bumpers on the Tamiya kit are molded to the body so you'd be looking for the whole body shell if you need just the bumpers.

By the way if it is a late model 1st gen then it's an FB, just a minor technicality but it should be noted that the tail lights and tail light panel (the space between the tail lights) are different.

Thanks - I'm aware of the differences between S1 and later - I've owned several of each myself... If I fill the depression between the tail-lights, I think I can get away with the stock lenses.....

Yes, the preferred option is to get a complete shell and add the flares to that (rather than adding bumpers to a flared S1 shell.....)

...But they're rare on Ebay.....

I wish I had some resin, I'd cast you up a set for sure, but I rarely have time for that nowadays and the self life on the stuff doesn't help matters.

The front and rear bumper change shouldn't be too bad though, there's not a whole lot you need to add or remove and it should be a lot quicker than cutting and reattaching the flares. Plus you would have to shave all of the side moldings off as well if you used the Tamiya shell.
