Hello All,

I have a 98 conti with 110K. My idle is 2200 in park and 1100 in gear. The car seems to have cruise control on since It will do 60 by itself given enough time. I replaced the good looking IAC and replaced it with a new one with the same results. If I disconnect the IAC, The car runs at 600 RPM and seems to be smooth. Can someone explain this issue? It just came out of nowhere. No codes....have scanner

Thanks
Chuck

Hello All,

This is exactly the issue I was having. My TPS was replaced last faill with an autozone part. I Still have my original TPS since I was troubleshooting a hesitation issue and decided maybe the TPS had a flat spot. it appears that I caused more harm then good. I will replace this part this weekend and will reply back with my findings

Autozone sensors will make your bull run like crap. I pulled a couple of sets of IACs and TPSs from the junk yard. I sprayed some electrical cleaner in one IAC. I let it sit when I changed my oil so that the cleaner could dry. I installed both the IAC and TPS. It idles fine. When I hit my brakes, the rpms drop as they should. In customary fashion, a video will follow. I don't know if Autozone is going to take back their crappy IAC and TPS, but I saved the boxes and receipts.

Thanks, everyone, for all your help.

Hello All,

I replaced my TPS sensor with my original one and it corrected the issue. I replaced my old TPS with a new one from AUTOZONE since I had hesitation. I save the old one because I knew it worked but after I replaced my IAC, I didnt consider replacing the TPS because it was 6 months old. After reading the article on the Tarus forums, I tried the old part and it worked. Another notch for a autozone /Duralast part. I threw away my old IAC, I hope the new one from Autozone doesn't fail as well :)
