Another Tranny Problem

I have the P1870 code and I know what causes that but now it seems I have a new problem. Was driving on the interstate the other day and looked in the rear view mirror and saw smoke pouring from the rear. Pulled over and saw tranny fluid dripping on the crossover pipe. Opened the hood and it seemed like the fluid was coming from the little "valve" beside the dipstick. After a few minutes I started it up and no more fluid anywhere. Thought all was ok, but the same thing happened again today. Is it possible that the fluid is being pushed out from that valve? Haven't added any fluid so I know the fluid level was good. Any ideas?

What year and what transmission and how many miles on it?
The root problem on a 1870 code is internal pressure leakage/slippage.
Lot of band aids for it but the perment cure is a transmission rebuilt.
I do not know of any valves by dip stick.
Post a picture or take a close look at the leak.
Clould be a cooler line or TV cable or servo or dipstick seal or bad dipstick.
Is the transmission slipping or heating up.
If getting hot some will blow fluid out dipstick or vent tube?
Has filter and fluid ever been serviced?
Any other codes besides 1870?

The part in question is actually strapped to the dipstick tube near the top.

There is no parts on dip stick tube.
Could it be the hold in/down brace that goes to engine/transmission mount bolt?
Can you post a picture?

Possibly the vent for the transfer case? If that is leaking out fluid that is a whole different issue than any tranny problems.

Here's the pic. See the hose connected to the dipstick tube.

Here's the pic. See the hose connected to the dipstick tube.
It is a vent hose for transmission or front rear end.
Trace it down to other end.
If it goes into the center upper part of transmission it is a transmission vent.,
Make sure transmission fkluid leve is good.
If it is blowing out transmission vent and fluid is not over full the transmission may be sliping and getting hot and blowing out fluid.
Which is the main cause of the code you have.
