ebrake repair

i bought a 1993 f150 ext cab 5spd and the e-brake cable had been cut. i have the pieces to replace the cable, just dont know how to disconnect the cable in the pedal assembly. could anyone give me some pointers on this. i've looked in the haynes manual for this and it doesnt go into the details i need.
