1992 Air Conditioner Problem

My truck's AC or Heat doesn't work. It just cut out one day. It doesn't even try, the switches do absolutely nothing. I figure it is something electrical but I wouldn't know where to start. i don't want to take it to a mechanic for the fear of a $300 bill. Any suggestions?

Edit: I did check the fuses...
