I have a 2001 Chevy Tahoe, 4.8 Liter, 2WD. I think I have a bad key cylinder. I cannot get the key to the run position, it's stuck in the lock position. I tried tapping of the key, wiggling, and spraying lots WD40 and graphite. It says when replacing the key cylinder, I need to have the key in the Accessory Position. I cannot get the key in that position. will the cylinder release with the key stuck in the lock position. I need a plan of attack, what are my options? The book I have is not very good. Thanks for your replies in advance!

Have you tried putting extra pressure on the steering wheel and turning it against the lock? Sometimes this will unlock the ignition.

Turn the key at the same time as you wiggle the steering wheel.
