my 96 chevy k1500 wont start its getting 65psi of fuel but no fire at plugs i checked camshaft sensor and crankshaft sensor they tested okay im getting 12volts to coil and ignition control module but no fire from coil to distributor i held the coil wire over the coil and spun the engine over and no fire is coming out of the coil does that mean either coil is bad or the ignition control module the coil was just replaced last yr along with spark plugs ,wires, distributor cap and rotor

I would suggest the module here or a burnt rotor and/or cap also.

im thinking its the module also but if it was burned cap or rotor wouldnt it least be getting fire to the distributor cap

well i pulled the coil wire off the distributor cap and had a friend turn the engine over and no fire at all so im thinking its between the coil and the module but i just replaced the coil last yr along with new plugs distributor cap rotor and plug wires so im thinking its the module

In the under hood fuse block find the fuse ECM-1. Check for power there with the key in the start and run position.

OK. So you've got power in both the START and RUN key positions. You've replaced modules and had others tested ok.
Next ? is does the dist rotor turn when cranking? Was there any thing done to the system prior to this "no start"?

Vortec 350s are known for eating distribitor caps and the aftermarket caps are junk which do not last.

i could be way off on this guys but as i re-read the first post to this thread, there is power to the coil and when the coil wire was held over the coil, there was no arc from the coil to the wire as i am understanding this. the coil was just replaced however, it has been my personal experience that it is not uncommon for an aftermarket auto parts store to sell faulty coils right off their shelves. i would try exchanging the coil for another one. i would also check the coil wire itself. is the contact shot possibly? can you get an arc using a screwdriver from the coil to another piece of metal? sounds to me (if i read everything right) that there is juice to the coil but none coming out. just a thought. sorry to butt in lol

well i got it fixed it was the crank sensor connector so i replaced the connector with new one and went ahead and replaced cranksenor also drove down the road about 3miles everything seeemed okay then it started acting up like misfiring so i went to turn around and i smelled like something was burning and the truck shut off i got out and it smelled around the ecm so i tried to restart and im getting no fire again anyway the ecm could be shot???
