blower problem

the A/C in my 97 ext cab is ice cold (37 degrees at the vent) but the problem is the blower motor doesnt blow hard enough...i've put in a new blower motor and cleaned all the ducts, made sure the blend door is closing all the way and checked everything i can without taking the dash out...it blows but takes forever to cool the whole cab down...havent really timmed it but on a good summer day it will take 10 minutes to get the cab comfortable
i rode in a friends truck the other day, an 05 chevy and the a/c blew like a hurricane compared to mine, so i'm guessing they put a bigger better blower in them took maybe 5 minutes to cool his ext cab, then we had to turn it down...does anyone know what it would take to put one of these newer blowers in my 97 ?? i'm guessing i'd need the blower itself and the switch to go along with it..can it be this simple ??? i'm sure they changed the a/c box design but if it means my a/c cools like a newer one i'm willing to try almost anything....almost considered trading it in but i love this truck this is the only thing i dislike about it...thanks for any help that is offered

You can not make a 05 out of a 97.
Go down to a local car lot and find a 97 like yours and see if blower will blow harder than yours.
Check the AC low and high side pressure at idle and at 2K rpm with compresser running and post back pressure readings.

is the blower motor the only reason why the newer ones blow harder ?? not trying to make it an 05 just want better performance out of my a/c blower, and if i can change the blower and a switch, why not do it, there cant be that much difference between them i wouldnt think...just took it to an a/c shop a couple of weeks ago they said the refrigerant level was good, i cant see where it has anything to do with the refrigerant ? my father-in law has a 1997 Yukon and mine blows just as hard as his...but it still takes a while for them to fully cool...

More blower is not going to help.
Make sure your system is woring good is all you can do.
Post back low and high side pressure for more help on it.

Can you hear the fan change speeds in each of the on positions?

yes, and it gets 13 Volts on each speed, testing with my multimeter...wouldn't "more blower" move the cold air into and around the cab faster, and cool it down faster ??

I have the same problem in my 1996 K1500. I did remove the blower motor and clean the fan and all the pine straw, dirt and dust from the condenser under the dash. This improved the airflow some, but not 100 percent. I agree that a bigger or better fan would improve the air flow.

More blower does not always give more colder.
I have had colder vent tempt on lower blower speeds.
Check R-134a charge and ac performance first.
What are the vent tempt readings?
What is low and high side readings at idle and at 2K with compresser running?
