A flexplate cannot cause a leak.

Usually, a leak in the front will be either the O-ring around the pump (most common) or the front "main" seal (most commonly blamed, but not usually the culprit). If it IS the main seal, chances are it was damaged when the converter was inserted. I know, no one wants to hear that, 'cuz that would mean it isn't "the shop's fault", but it's a true statement, nevertheless.

You're probably going to have to remove the trans and inspect it carefully, to be SURE where the fluid is coming from.

If it's a "3500 stall", it's NOT a "stock converter". Those would be "mutually exclusive".
