well to make a long story very short my driver side marker light got busted. i have a new one but have run into a problem. how do i pull the old one? i got the screw out, and disconnected obvious points of connection, but no matter which way i pull and pry that mf'er ain't goin no where lol.
also, the bumper cover up front is sagging and there is about a half inch gap between the bumper cover and the head lights. i'm guessing theres clips that hold it and i need new ones. anybody have a guess what they run at the dealer? another related issue in the rear is the rear bumper cover. know about that funny looking filler peice? ever see one that looks a little buckled? thats how mine is starting to look. how do i make it sit flush again? do i need a new one?
issue # 3 : the lincoln's gettin the revitalizing paint treatment from my uncle in a couple months. when i bring it down south to his body shop after its painted i want to put in new window sweeps and get some new exterior window mouldings as mine are a little hit up and worn (rubber around the windows on the doors with fancy chrome strip in it, know what i'm talmbout? ) again, i'm prolly gonna have to go to the dealer for that. any idea on how much i should be looking at?
issue # 4 : the chrome strips in the middle of the body and bumper molding are spotting / anodizing or plastic coating wearing off in places, so i figure i might as well get some new ones while i'm having the car painted. is the shit that comes on a roll at auto zone the same stuff, or do i gotta get that from the dealer too?
ending note: i've asked my uncle many times and he can't really find much shit for lincolns in tn, also lincolns ain't really his thing, he's a gm man and its funny that he doesn't mess with/ work on/ paint them seein as he has his body shop and paints prolly 3 cars a week. all he really has hook ups for is a lot of chevy cars and parts, and paint and painting supplies/ tape and all that. also, here in the good state of mi, it seems like the lincoln dealers don't have much of anything for my 97 tc, which i wonder if they'll be able to get me those window sweeps and exterior trim. a couple months ago while at the dealer getting a fuel filter, i asked if they had any n.o.s parts at the hub and if he could see. dude looked at me funny as hell, didn't even know what an n.o.s part was or what n.o.s ment, i had to explain it to him for 10 minutes. he still didn't understand, i walked away simply nodding my head lol. un beleivable !
on another note, i'm still trying to decide on a color. i really like the stock light cypress, and i'm mainly leaning toward that, but also i've been entertaining the thought of pearl white, extra heavy on the pearl. also i forgot the name, but theres a bmw black that looks f'n awesome. like a giant black mirror !
any thoughts on my issues at hand? having a little trouble trying to sort everything out. oh yea, i finally aquired all the shit to put in the arm rest phone. and verizon says they'll turn it on for me  f'n sweet. now all i'd like to do is get some cartier seats and i think i'll be in buiseness !

Hello, As far as the marker light goes, there is a 11mm nut inside under the black cover that needs to be removed. Other than that and the screw, nothing else holds it in. As far as the molding around the car goes, I purchase a roll of chrome molding from a Company called sportwing. They are out of Ohio and even though it is not factory in nature, it looks great. If you would like, Give me your mailing address, and I will ship you a small piece. The molding around the doors is quite complicated. Along with the Opera glass. First take the door panel off, then using a weather stripping tool, from the inside of the door, pop off the external layer of molding, there is also a black round seal insid the door and tha needs to be removed to get access to a 10 mm nut that will let you remove the triangular piece need the mirrors. Now all you have on is the chrome trim, and the final rubber piece. Remove the screw from the chrome trim and neer the latch on the door itself there is a 11 or 10 mm bolt that needs to be removed, and again, using the tool, remove the molding. on the back doors, the bols that I just spoke of is inside instead of near the latch. Kinda near the window motor, you'll see what I am talking about once you remove the door panel. Once you have all of these seals off, now is a good time to clean them with 91% alochol and using a Adhesive promoter, give it a good primer and then bases coat clear coat. Yes I jsut said to paint the trim gloss black. I did my opera glass trim and they came out great. I just haven't had the time to pull the doors apart and do them.
As far as the sagging goes, I am unsure of how to fix this. Mine does it to.
on hte closing note, I have many parts avaliable for you car, so if you need something, just ask. I can also sent you a photo of my opera glass and trim to give you a better idea of what it would look like on your car.

IMO, if your uncle is a good painter, all of this trim and molding, including the bumpers, should be taken off to paint the car. No body - but no body - can do a perfect job of masking. If you can acquire all the parts you are naming, I'd get them, then take them with you when you take your car to your uncle. He may not be a "Lincoln man" but he will know how to remove and reattach the parts. A good body shop, doing an excellent paint job will remove ALL chrome trim and the bumpers - anything that could get an over spray - especially if changing colors. I cannot imagine him not having contacts to get parts for any car, and the costs should be much less than you are talking.

very very helpful kitt, thanks a lot.very precious info i needed. all cause of that bolt haha i knew i was missing something. if i come across some parts i need i'll give ya a holler. yes bearfoot, the bumper covers, body trim and moldings, tail lights, door jam sill plates, as well as other things i can't think of will all be getting pulled, and the car sanded down real good before it ever rolls into the booth. i was just seeing about the clips, so when re assembly comes into play after paint it won't have that gap anymore.
oh yea kitt, wish i could just paint the moldings like that, but a couple of em are a little raggedy, like the corner of 2 has been torn/ frayed/ worn/ come off some how, and another appears to be dry rotted.
another quick ? : i wonder if you can chrome aluminum? i got the "new school" turbine aluminum wheels on the linc. but theres places on the wheels where the anodizing/ plastic coating, whichever it is, is bubbling/ peeling/ chipped. i was thinking i might be able to strip off the anodizing and get them chromed? maybe polished?

Mine were dry rotted as well, but the gloss black really helped the appearance. Get me a picture of the wheel. Maybe I can help.
