Misfire then fine?

This has happen twice within the last two years. My number one cylinder will misfire/run rough, then smooth out. I had Autozone hook it up which told us which cylinder it was. I had Him clear the code, and the engine light stays out and no more misfire and my car has never ran better. No coolant problems. Anybody ever experience this? Could it be the wire that periodically acts up? I'm going to change out the plugs and wires anyways, I'm just curious why it would act up, then correct itself "twice". Again, car purrs like a kitten, no hesitation etc. etc. Thanks guys for any ideas you can throw my way.

There are a couple of possibilities. First the spark plug wires may be starting to break down and causing the misfire. The other issue may be a slight bit of water or dirt in the fuel that caused the problem. One other possible cause is loose injector wire. This will cause a misfire and then it will clear itself until something acts up again. I wouldn't worry about it unless it becomes a constant issue.

I am leaning towards a possible fuel injector issue starting.

Another cause is a bad coil and that is a common cause of a missfire sometimes.
