Ive just recently got my car back after getting it painted. They had to take off the license plate off of course to paint it. Now that i got it back the license plate rattles like hell and almost drowns out the bass. ive taken the plate off and put it back on repeatedly to see if if it wouldnt rattle. ive also tighted the plate as far as the screws will let me. No luck. Is there any tips to keep this annoyance from happening? Is there something i can buy thats like dynamat for the back of the license plate maybe? I dont know it kinda sucks because before my car sounded nice but was scratched to all hell and was all dinged and looked like shit. Now it looks sweet and sounds like shit :/ wierd trade off.

Do you have a frame for your plates? It might actually be the frame vibrating against the plate. I just took some cable ties and tied the plate and the frame together as tight as I could. This might actually help so give it a try. Otherwise... you may want to try some gasket foam sound damping material or maybe just shoving some 3M foam tape in there.

heres a suggestion, theres the dynamat license plate frame, you can usualy buy it at circut city or best buy for like $20, its supposd to dampen vibrations from your license plate, but i personally never tried it so i dont know how effective it is

Dynamat will do it
but dont use it to much
if you use all 4 screws for the plate. put the dynamat on in 2 inch squares by the screws. also make sure its the license plate, it can easily be something else...

No i dont have a license plate frame. It screws directly in.
sweet ill try out each of these ideas and see wich one works the best. Ill come back later and tell wich method worked the best. (starting from the cheapest :the ducktape)

hey had the same prob on my civic, if you can get a small piece of foam(the stuff the eggshell matresses are made of) put it behide the plate and screw the plate back on. works awsome and no sticky shit from the tape.
