I know alot of people have this deaded issue. I have heard on several sites that there is a wire splicing job they did at the factory with 3 wires going into 1 and just taped it and shoved it into the wire loom. Noone seems to know where abouts this is. I have found 2 wires into 1 and that is fine. I cant get past second gear UNLESS i shut it off going down the road then restart it. shifts fine until I come to a stop. Sometimes it will shift fine after that but most times not. I am going Nucking futs lol. Someone out there has to know where these wires are at!! :runaround:

The usual steps in a limp mode situation are changing the fluid and filter and the two speed sensors. Have you tried them yet? Have you had tranny codes read yet? I have read of the mystery splice but, I think it applies to early (96-97) 3rd generation vans and older. Any other symptoms?

I have changed the filter and fluid. both sensors and the TCM and Solenoid and took to garage to have tcm flashed and relearned. Mechanic said everything was fine. Funny thing is that tranny was shifting fine with no problems until I changed the plugs and wires. Engine was running crappy and found front three plugs arcing with wires. replaced and the same day tranny started its problems. I have looked for loose or missing wires such as ground straps and such to no avail.

limp mode?? are u talking about the transmission? the misfires and engine runing like crap shouldnt let the trans go into limp mode is there any code in the computer??? engine light on??? if so cycle the key 3 times in five seconds and it should pop the codes up on the odometer display.. i know what spice ur talking about. i see ur from ny and the splice is located in the big wipe that goes down off the computer and relay box cut that open and ur going to find a lot of green wires. i had a van come in think it was a 03 and it ran alright just the engine light was on got into that wiring wipe and there were 12 broken wires. another place to look is right under the relay box next to the bat. seen broken wires around there. the cause of this is the bat. fumes and the sand and salt cause the wires to do this.. i think its just cheap ass wire there using

Engine was running crappy but trans was fine. Went and got wires and plugs and changed them. The next morning went to the store and thats when tranny went into limp mode. Codes that kick on are p1787 and p0700. I know that P0700 is generic code saying tranny has issues and other code has something to do with 2/4 gear ratio. Seems as soon as i fix one thing another thing goes wrong. I guess thats just life. Next car is gona be older with no computer crap in it

This Just In!!!! I found those dreaded wires everyones talking about that Chrysler jerry rigged to work. Unfortunately mine was done right with solder and shrink wrap seal. These wires are underneath the fuse panel next to the battery. Disconnect the battery and then unscrew the fuse block and carefully remove. Gently remove the black wrapping and finger through wires, youll see it plain as day. also vans on way to junkyard. exaust fell off and im getting sick and tired of fixing it lol
