anyone know the procedure to reprogram the key fob? my GF ended up buying a 2008 GT w/ 18K on it, but the key fob dont work. stealership says its not their responsibility :angryfire

went to Advanced Auto and they tested it and said the battery is still good...so I'm thinking it just needs to be reprogrammed.

thanks in advance for the input

Honestly I would go back to the dealership and bitch them out... you just bought the car and the key fobs should work! anyways the car is under warrenty or at least it better be with it being a 2008 with only 18K miles on it. Their is no reason for them to say that it's not their responsibility. I'll search around and see if I can find anything on the reprogramming of it. I'll try to get back to you by tonight.

thanks for the reply...local GM dealership covered it under warrenty today.

now we just gotta get the F'ing alignment figured out. steering wheel is not straight...told the place the day we test drove it that we wanted it fixed. still isnt straight...called them and told em'. he told us we gotta drive back down there to have it fixed because he will not let the local GM dealer do it.

the place we bought the car is a 2 hour drive from my house...and the guy says he's not paying for the gas...HA, he's got another thing coming.

car is under a 3 year 35K bumber to bumper warrenty . we also bought an extended 5 year 75K warrenty. however i guess alignments are only covered for the first 10K?

I'm glad to hear that you got the remotes taken care of! You are better off in the end bringing someplace else for the alignment versus going to the dealer you bought it from. Most dealers won't cover an alignment unless they have to replace something under warranty that may cause the alignment to be off like a shock, strut, tie rod... and so on. Anyways from my experience GM dealers have done a crappy jobs of alignment I've always gotten better luck at smaller garages and even places like pepboys. My grand am was brought back 5 times to the dealer for a bad alignment... the steering wheel had to be turned left to go straight that bad. I was told it was the techs fault, a bad sensor on the machine, etc. Finally at the 5th time i was told bring it someplace else (a local garage) they'll pay for it which they did only to find out that their was more wrong with the suspension all caused by a car accident a few month earlier about 800 out of their pockets and my car was good somewhat again.
