A/C and Alternator Problems

I have a 1996 Explorer and the heat works but the AC doesn't even if it's on Max AC. I tried the blend door fix but from the way it looks it's fine and I don't think that's the problem. I was able to fix my Ford Escort ZX2's AC by resoldering the CCRM. I was hoping there would be a similar fix for the Explorer.

And while poking around trying to fix the AC I think I may have messed up the alternator, because the charging system light came on. I can't figure out if the alternator has gone bad or if the switch that control the light gone bad.

I appreciate any help. With summer coming on I really need some AC. :newburn:

UPDATE: The charging system light when off, but I'm going to take it to a Shop and have them check it anyway. Maybe they can fix the AC but I doubt they can this time if they couldn't last time.

Welcome to the forum!

You're going to give us some more information to help you much with your A/C. Does the clutch engage when you turn the A/C on? Do you have manual (knob/dial) or automatic (digital display and push buttons) controls? Have you connected gauges to the low and high pressure lines to see what pressures you have?

It's an automatic. I'm really new at this so I'm really sure if the clutch engages. I'm going to take it to the shop tomorrow to check the alternator. And maybe they can fix the AC this time (last time they couldn't figure it out). But if they can't fix it then I'll come back here.
