2000 Venture blower fan high does not work

When running blower fan, hot or cold, all settings work fine except the highest setting.
I replaced the blower motor resistor because the old one was clicking when I changed setting to high and blower shuts off. New resistor does same thing. Worked for 2 seconds then clicked and high speed shut off.
All other speeds do work fine.
If this a switch problem? if so can I run a wire with a switch for the high speed since high speed is not actually controlled by the resistor?

Had this problem with my '02 crap. They replaced the fan motor under warranty.
