Mine like so many others had the POS plastic piece break which was easy enough to fix with some JB weld and a small screw. However, the cable inside the motor got all wrapped up and ruined so I have a couple questions.
1. Nobody but the dealer carries rear regulators $212.00 and I see many fronts on-line in the $50-$70 range. Are the rears the same as the fronts? Even isuzu parts.com doesn't show left rear.
2. If I just buy the motor, are the cables included?
Thanks for all the help

I am dealing with same thing on my '96. I can't get the cable to extend far enough now after the nylon guide for the cable broke. I can't open the case to see if the cable is unwound. The regulators for front and rear are different. I think the motors are the same if you use the same side regulator Left or Right(double check your year). They only face one direction on the door shell. I found an entire regulator w/out the motor on Ebay for $50 and it worked fine. I am going to look for another one to replace mine and just switch the motor out. It really pissed me off that could not open the case and rewind the cable or see why the cable does not extend far enough. This will the third regulator I have replaced.

I was able to open mine by taking a screw driver and bending 2 metal "T"s that wrap around securing the cover to the base. However, be prepared, there are wound springs that uncoil and cable flies everywhere. I don't think I stood a chance at putting it back together again correctly. I was also never able to to put a rubics cube together so those who could, may stand a chance

I pulled that cover off too, saw the coils and did not want to %$&@ with it. The front regulators on my truck have just cable spools that can be rewound. No coils. Anyway the front and rear regs are different on the '96. Hit Ebay up, you might find the regulator. I found mine w/out the motor for the fronts. Some people claim you can't change the motor and you need to buy the whole reg assembly. On my front regs the motor and coil spool are seperate, so a few screws and you can swap easily. The only problem with changing the motor on the combined unit is you have disconnect the two wires and resolder. I did that on one to save money and it was quite a hassle. I'm not putting any more $ into my $500 Rodeo.
