My sister's car, but I am a mechanic, so I get to fix it when it breaks..
Anyway, it has a pretty good vibration on the right front from around 50 to 60, it lessens at higher speeds, but is still there. Originally it felt to me like it had a bad tire. She had me put front pads and rotors on it, change oil and replace plugs this weekend so I revisited the vibrations. I thought it had a bad tire, so I put it up on jack stands and ran it while watching, seemed like the tire was out of round, so I changed it, no matter which one I put on, even ran it without a tire on it, and the vibration stayed at right front, even with no tire on it. I realize that was without road force, but, shouldn't do that. Anyway, was doing it before the brake job, and I replaced the rotors as part of her brake job. any way, the axle shaft seems to track true when running, and the rotors, and wheel surface are both straight. I don't know whats up with it. If the transmission was wacked up I should see vibrations all the way down the axle shaft. I am at a lose, any of you have any ideas or experience with weird vibrations on these cars? It has 130k, is a good car by my account, but she is talking about selling it and getting something else now. Hate to see her do that over a problem as trivial as this, just been on going...

I know this is old post, but update. I bought the car the other day for 2 grand after she said the tranny went out and they parked it a couple months ago. It drives ok cold with a 3rd gear flare, then when it warms up it goes no where at all. Think it is a rebuild candidate or just swap it with a used. I would do the work, I am a mechanic, I would think a rebuild would be tougher. I know the trannies have a history of trouble and can't help but think even with a used around 60k or less I am still on borrowed time. I only want to pull the tranny once! Is there a transmission module reprogram to increase the line pressure a bit or change shift logic? These trannies last so much shorter than the car does. I don't expect an auto to go 300000, but some failures are 70 or 80k, granted this one has 142k, but the car is still in great shape, and the ex has the sunroof, 15s and all the whistles too.

Sorry to read about the trans gone. From all I've read, on this and other fora, it's a rebuild that'll fix it. Points to know: There's an internal screen that catches all the transmission dirt. When it clogs...well, you know what happens when a transmission filter isn't cleaned nor changed. It happens on these transmissions because it can only be replaced/cleaned by a tear-down. Probably, the bands, or whatever Honda uses, will need to be replaced. If you can do it yourself, that's fantastic. A trans-shop rebuild would be $2k+. :frown:

I would love to have good news, I don't. I rebuilt it and it still has the tcc code, (I replaced the convertor too), it slips 2 to 3 shift some and 3 to 4 alot. I don't know what to do.....I am at wits end, I love the car, its nice, but its not worth even what I have in it to sell it like it is.

sounds like ball joints to me if you have a heavy vibe and you already checked the rotors and brakes. Only other things are balljoints tierod ends and bearings so has to be one of them good luck and hoped i helped
Oh as for the tranny, Well trannys need fluid right. Check the fluid levels and such and see how it goes you cant have too much or too little. If you have any experience at tranny rebuilds have fun with it take your time and make sure you rebuild it right. When it comes to the valve body, do yourself a favor just replace it most shops dont even mess with it they just order another one. Its hard to rebuild valve bodys you need a completely clean area you dont want a spec of dirt or metal anywhere near it. Replace alll seals in the tranny and any damaged or burnt out clutch disc. Break all the clutches down for a full inspection of the tranny. Number your parts and line everything up. I have rebuilt a few trannys and i can tell ya in most of my cases was the valve body so anytime i do a transmission for someone i just include the valve body in the price just in case. Last thing you wanna do is tell a customer your going to need more money XD

I am Ase certified for cars and in many aspects of John Deere training. I have worked on things for well over half my life. I am confident in my rebuild. I replaced EVERYTHING in the trans and tore it down to bare bones, all aspects are covered in it. I don't really have any idea what is wrong with it. The vibration while annoying is definately back seat at the moment. I know the rotors are vibing on braking, but I am thinking they are out of balance bad enough to vib all the time.
Like said though, I don't do crap work, I am very meticulous in all repairs; this is the sole reason that I don't have shops work on my cars, I do it myself. I don't want some 7 dollar an hour jackleg half assing my high dollar vehicles that I put my family and myselves livelyhoods in. As for the trans problem, I have read alot of troubles with the TPS on these cars. Due to it being easier to get to and cheaper I may replace it and try it. I hooked my scan tool up and can't see the TPS causing problems in its readings, but who knows. I don't mind to pull the trans out again and pull it apart if I need to. I just don't know of any reason too. All the basis in it have been covered. I really think that it is something electronic, the books covering this are limited though.
