Rear Alignment on 97 Lesabre

The tire shop said both of my rear wheels need shims in order to track with the front properly. They said there are rivets that need to be popped out first as bolts are not used in the factory. The alignment does not seem all that bad to me, so I haven't done it yet, but would like to before I put new tires on it.
What are the rivets they are referring to? Are there 4 large rivets that hold each wheel assembly on the rear? I was thinking about removing the rivets and putting in bolts myself as the cost of the rear alignment was high because of the removal of the rivets (and replacement with bolts). The shop said once the rivets are out of there, it is easy to put shims in. Thanks.

Thanks. Sounds like it can be aligned without removing rivets. I bet he shop checked the alignment, realized he rear was out and then assumed the rear would need to be shimmed. Looks to me like the Lesabre is adjustable though, as you noted. I had an Oldsmobile once that had to be shimmed as there was no other way to get the rear in-line. I may run it by a different shop to see what they say. Thanks.

There is no need to use a shim kit on the 97 LeSabre.... There is plenty of room to adjust for both Camber and Toe, Castor is not adjustable on the 92-99 Lesabre.. Please do run it by another shop..
