gears feel like they're slipping?!?

So I'm driving in to work this morning and as I get into the parking lot I have to stop behind someone. When I push on the gas to go, it felt like the gears slipped, the same feeling you get when you shift from reverse to drive and hit the gas before the switch finishes, like a weird rapid jolt. I didn't think much of it until it started happening everytime I would slow down and speed up again. To be sure, I stopped, shifted to reverse, and shifted back to drive. I waited a good 5 seconds and slowly eased on the gas and sure enough it slipped again. (it's an automatic if that helps at all)

Any suggestions?

I've only had the car for a year and half, and it's a 2000. Is that already necessary?

hmm, that is quite early for a Civic tranny to start getting screwy. Has anyone besides you driven (abused) the car lately? Young kids get into a Civic, they think they have a Ferrari sometimes.

that also has symptoms of low tranny fluid, but it might need to be replaced also. check fluid level, if its good, then get fluid changed

I'm the only one that ever drives it, and I bought it as a Honda 'Certified' car. I'll look into it, just wanted to make sure it wasn't some huge problem. Thanks for the help:D
