I'm building up a 408 stroker replacement engine for the stock 302 engine in my Panoz, what is the hot ticket for a good set of headers that provide good flow and also clear the frame members? I also plan on a new set of mufflers so ther is no real restriction on matching the existing exhaust system.

about your ony option is a custom setup. They sell header kits for @ $300, just bring the kit to your favorite exhaust shop and let them have at it!

Paul, as you are going 408 (so based on a 9.5" deck 351 blocked engine) you could use the Panoz GTS headers as these are tailored for this engine configuration. You will need to check the header flange will fit the heads that you plan on using on the engine though. As I recall these headers are made for Panoz by Hedman and others have found them pretty good.
It is only the 302 based 8.2" deck height engines that need to have custom headers made (or the Panoz headers modified) due to the differing height of the engine.
Will be interested to see how you find the 408. Are you running it wet sumped or dry sumped? What power output are you aiming for? What rpm are you planning to run the engine to?
Kel.

Paul, you are a local PB County guy like myself. I highly recommend my engine builder off of blue heron. He will do you RIGHT! Let me know if you want his info. He built me 2 AWESOME stroker motors and he is an old Pro Trans-AM driver so he knows what we need.

A couple of things:
Who sells the Headman headers and how much? Also which high flow mufflers work best?
Looking for around 450 to 500hp. I had 450ish out of my 392stroker in my FFCobra. I plan on going with ARP 205 heads, Comp roller cam and Air Gap dual plane manifold, 3000 to 6200 RPM range.
Yes, please give me your engine builders name and location so I can stop by and chat.
My car doesn't have any idenfication on the fuse block, so I really don't know which fuse goes to which car systems. Does anybody have a layout of the fuse block?
Thanks guys.

Paul, another head brand that you may want to look at is the new Brodix CNC heads that Keith Craft do now for Fords. I used a set of the 5.0 185 cc CNC heads with great results (they were cheaper than AFR165's & 185's and had better flow figures).
The new Keith Craft Brodix heads are 190 & 210 cc runners as I recall, so either would suit your application.

Total Engine Concepts - TEC - Mike 561.842.2813
His shop is in the same building as Mosler Auto - www.moslerauto.com (http://www.moslerauto.com)
We bought header flanges for our AFR 225cc heads and sent them to headman and they used our flange and the long tube headers that work with our cars and they came out perfect. I think they were $750 a set but it might have been 1500 I cannot remember.
Go for 500 FWHP and lets all go have some fun. You will need BIGGER tires too. I have that setup for you when you are ready.

Brian, I am looking for some 18'x11" wheels for the rears. I want to go with 10" on the front and 11" on the rear figuring it will corner a lot better. Also planning on doing Daytona sometime this year, I might do the PCA deal. Anyone gonna be their?

It looks like they raised their price from $450 to $550 but still a great wheel and when they get damaged they are easy to replace one of the peices. We started with 10" front and 12" rear and then recently went to 11" fronts. They have my info and will send you other options to try and then return what peices you dont use.
Daytona is cool. Let me know if you find someone that is going to offer racing and not just DE and we miught go too.

Brian, as far as I know the Daytona deal with PCA is not a D E only. If so I will not be going either. Squerly and another guy was at R A 2 weeks ago for the PCA event and got a lot of track time, hopefully this will be the same.
