2001 Honda Accord brake disc change

Hi there,

I'm planning to do a complete brake job on my 2001 Honda Accord LX 2.3L sedan. I was wondering if there are any special tools required? I've read online on a number of other forums that to remove the rear discs you need an impact driver, is that required for the front? I can't seem to find any info on the front brake discs for that year. I also need to know the torque specs for the caliper bolts or can I just tighten them snug. I'm also planning to buy torque wrenches, 1/2" drive and 1/4" drive. Would those 2 be enough or do I need 3/8" drive also? The 1/2" drive spec is 10-150 ft/lb and the 1/4" is 20-200 inch/lb. ANy help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I drive 1999 LX, but do not think there is bid difference in them.

Cannot help you with rear disks - I have drums.

With the front I used just a cheater bar: a three foot steel pipe was enough to undo the bolts. I looked up the torque in my Haynes manual. I do not remember the numbers, but do remember that my Craftsman 1/2'' drive torque wrench did not give me any problems.

Thanks for the reply. I have drums in the rear too. So there's no screws to remove to get the disc out? Also the caliper bolts can be tightened using 1/2" torque wrench?

hmm yea there's 2 little screws that you want to attack w/ some PB blaster and an impact screwdriver...
